Akbar likes to be known as an ordinary Muslim who is a keen student and practitioner of pragmatical essence of Islam. A thinker who is not satisfied with the canned answers to difficult questions of life as a Muslim, he took time to explore, study and configure realistic answers. When the question of how we as an Ummah got into this state of weakness confronted him, he was compelled to find the answers and deliver it in its nascent spiky form, suited to the seriousness and urgency of the message. This is not a study from the perspective of a disconnected academician, but a point of view of a Muslim who was directly impacted by the highs and lows of the Muslim Ummah in the last several decades. Akbar put in a conscious effort to elevate this work from being another opinion or a polemic from an emotional Muslim. He presents facts backed by research, references and strung together with rational arguments to identify some unique causes for the decline.
